send some 'finding a good house quickly' vibes my way, will you? I'd love to sell our place and move before this baby comes.

Well, there are some lovely garden homes for sale in my potential new neighbourhood! It would be lovely to be neighbours again!!! :)
Very exciting!
At least with a house you know that all the money you're going to shell out is going towards something that will not (ideally) depreciate in value.
I share your apathy towards marriage, although I do want to buy a wedding dress and have lots of people give me presents. My sister told me that I should just have a wedding, but then refuse to sign the legal documents. It sounds pretty good to me.
Holy Shit! can't wait to hear some more details! that's fricken sweet! scary but awesome! holy shit!

Megan, great point.
My current point of ponderance lately is... how do we get gifts from people with out getting married or having babies?
I could go either way on the dress.
Just have a kick ass house warming party! and you could dress up if you want to. gifts and committment-esque without the goopy wedding stuff.

Yay! I'm so excited for you! does your place have an MLS # that I could look it up, or do they do that for new developments "out east"?
Definitely have a kick-ass housewarming - although we threw one and only got a bunch of plants. They're all dead now, except for a cactus. We suck.
I agree that a house warming is for sure in order.
My aunt, after buying a house with her boyfriend, had a house warming party every year for the first four years they lived there. I am not sure how they justified that to themselves (maybe the house felt emotionally cold?), but they got presents every year... I am not sure how you would go about suggesting that people buy you particular items (to avoid getting all those plants), but I am sure there is some sly way you could do it.
I am totally okay with doing gift registries. :)
We're currently living in magical kindergarten land with all of MW's primary colour crappy furniture, so there's definitely plans to upgrade over the next few years.
We went over all the 'closing costs' last night, and I nearly through up. I think we have to cut the cable tonight. :( I have no hope of doing anything remotely interesting for the next year or so.. but at least I have a house. Maybe.
And wow, Jules. We's here in de'east allz havs de interwebs n' stuffs. :)
MLS # 05805976
:D
I totally love it!!!
Also, for the record, my only contact to the east is my mother, who has to google search google, so....
Is your place move-in ready or is it still being built?
So exciting!!!!
It's still being built, which means we can choose all the colours in stuff, which is nice. And, my father can come up and check out the building to make sure things are still going well (he's been involved in housing development for decades).
They said that it should be ready for us in May, so it better be... or we'll be homeless. :S
as long as it has like, a roof and walls, you can move in. And floor, you don't want to have to move all your furniture out. But the rest you can fiddle with.
Have a house warming party, and go make a registry at Sears or something. Those scanner guns are SWEET and fun to shoot things with.

Well, they are pretty sure it won't be ready for May 1st, so we may have to scramble. We're going to ask our landlady if we can stay one more month.. We'll see.. if not, well... we'll figure something out.. :S
